Twelve more die from H1N1
SEOUL, Nov. 12 (Yonhap) -- Twelve more people have died in South Korea from the
Influenza A (H1N1) virus, raising the country's total death toll from the new flu
to 64, health authorities said Thursday.
A 6-year-old boy and two other women, aged 39 and 56, died after being diagnosed
with the H1N1 virus, officials from the central disaster relief headquarters
said. None of the three were classified as being in the high-risk category.
Nine others, including an 18-year-old girl who had a previous illness, were
classified as high-risk patients, they said.
Out of the 64 who died from new flu, 53 patients were classified as high-risk and
11 others were not, officials said.
The relief headquarters, which acts as a control room for national efforts to
combat the spread of the disease, was set up last week under the Ministry of
Public Administration and Security after the government raised its pandemic alert
status to the highest level.
