ASIA PACIFIC NEWS AGENCIES TO DISCUSS GLOBAL MEDIA BALANCING

TEHRAN, Nov 13 (Bernama) –- Top executives of Asia-Pacific news agencies are
meeting here over the next two days to address the issue of global media
balancing.
Hosted by Mehr News Agency, the 31st executive board meeting of the
Organisation of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA) will be attended by over 40
representatives of 18 member agencies.
Bernama is represented by General Manager Hasnul Hassan, who arrived here
Friday morning. He was received by Mehr News Agency Managing Director Parviz
Esmaeili at the Tehran Imam Khomeini International Airport.
Bernama is one of the four vice-chairmen of OANA, which is currently headed
by ANTARA of Indonesia.
A meeting of OANA's editorial and technical experts group will be held
alongside the annual board meeting at the Tehran Enqelab Hotel.
Formed in 1969 on the initiative of UNESCO, the 41-member organisation aimed
to secure direct and free exchange of news between the news agencies of a region
inhabited by more than one-half of the world's population.
