National Security Committee is authorized to declare
Almaty, November 14, 2009, Khabar - The representatives of National Security Committee (NSC)has given explanations on detention of Aidyn Zhanteleyev, deputy chief of department of financial police in Almaty. A few days ago, officials of Almaty department of NSC found and seized from him hashish and marijuana. Aidyn Zhanteleyev was detained on November 5 and his arrest was authorized on November 7. The criminal case has been referred to the General Prosecutor’s office.
Kenzhebulat Beknazarov, spokesman for the chairman of the KNB RK:
- Initially, each step of investigation was controlled by the prosecutor's office and all actions were lawful and legitimate by the DNSC of Almaty.
It has been said during briefing that immediately after the detention Zhanteleyev was tested in drug treatment center and it was stated he was in a state of drug intoxication.
Akylbek Yerbolatov, senior investigator for particularly important cases DNSC of Almaty:
- Series of examinations were held and it was discovered Zhanteleyev used the drugs for a long time. He received drugs during personal meeting at his residence place and in his office, building of the department of financial police in Almaty.
The press secretary of the National Security Committee of Kazakhstan has noted there is no any interagency war here.
Kenzhebulat Beknazarov, spokesman for the chairman of the KNB RK:
- Our common task is to fight drug trafficking, those people who discredit law enforcement agencies authorities, all power organs. This settled task was solved.
Kenzhebulat Beknazarov has also answered the question - how they found about Zhanteleyev’s using of drugs. NSC is authorized to declare - originally surveillance was not conducted for Mr. Zhanteleyev and his colleagues.

- At first we defined people who amused with drugs, or were related to sales and storage. And then we got some information that somewhere something is connected with Zhanteleyev. Therefore, we had clear and strong basis to carry out operational-investigative actions.
This year the NSC brought to criminal responsibility 23 staff of law enforcement agencies on charges of drug-related crimes. More than half of them are policemen. And representatives of the correctional system also distinguished badly.
