PILGRIMS' FUND, IDB COOPERATE FOR "SACRIFICE" ACTIVITIES
MECCA, Nov 18 (Bernama) -- The cooperation between Tabung Haji (Malaysia's
Pilgrims' Fund) and the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) based in Jeddah will
facilitate Qurban (sacrifice) activities for Malaysian pilgrims during Eid
al-Adha at the end of the month.
Malaysian haj pilgrims group leader Salleh Abd Mubin said the rate for each
participation in a Qurban activity was Saudi Riyal 430 (RM400 or US$118.73), the
price fixed by IDB for a goat.
He said the cooperation would help haj pilgrims take part in the Qurban
rituals on the Tashyrik days from Nov 27 to 30.
"We carried out this service with the IDB because the bank has a complete
Qurban ritual programme with a good slaughterhouse in Mina and sufficient
livestock for slaughter," he told the Pilgrims' Fund media team here Wednesday.
Mohd Salleh said about 50 per cent of pilgrims had appointed the Pilgrims'
Fund to carry out the Qurban activities, and the same was expected this year.
He said those interested could pay cash at any of the Pilgrims' Fund's
deposit and withdrawal counters located at all Pilgrims' Fund hostels here, or
debit the amount from their Pilgrims' Fund account balance.
