UAE EMERGES AS TOP CAPITAL EXPORTER IN ARAB WORLD

DUBAI, Nov 18 (Bernama) -- The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has emerged as the
largest capital exporter in the Arab world, pumping in more than US$49 billion
in direct investment into global markets during 2005-2008, it was reported.

Foreign direct investment (FDI) by the UAE had steadily increased over the
past few years, Emirates Business 24/7 said, citing figures issued by
Kuwaiti-based Inter-Arab Investment Guarantee Corporation.

This had enabled the Gulf state to maintain its position as the largest Arab
capital exporter and the top regional investor in global merger and acquisition
operations.

UAE's FDI outflow stood around US$3.7 billion in 2005, climbing to US$10.8
billion in 2006.

The figure rose to US$14.5 billion in 2007 before surging to a record high
of US$16.8 billion in 2008.
