TWO F1 IN SCHOOLS TECHNOLOGY CHALLENGE WINNERS TO COMPETE IN SINGAPORE
KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 19 (Bernama) -- Two schools in southern state of Negeri Sembilan that emerged champion and runner-up in the F1 in Schools Technology Challenge will represent the country at the F1 in Schools Challenge in Singapore next September.
The winner, Raluca F1 team from Sekolah Dato' Abdul Razak and runner-up
Annihilation team of Army Apprentice School, earned the honour after beating the
rest in the competition that saw participation from 25 teams representing 21
schools nationwide.
The participants showcased their invention of F1 model cars during the final
round of competitions that started Tuesday and ended here Wednesday.
Education director-general Alimuddin Mohd Dom who was present to give away
prizes to winners said the program was an effort by the Education Ministry to
enhance education in science and technology, in line with the ministry's
Education Development Main Plan under the Ninth Malaysia Plan.
"This programme is aimed at generating successors in the engineering field
apart from bridging the gap between urban and rural schools. I find this
programme very useful to expose students to their choice of career, not only in
science and technology but also in engineering and marketing," he said.
