Astana, November 19, 2009 (Khabar) - The state of culture institutions, implementation of the Cultural Heritage national project and the development of domestic cinematography. These were all among the questions posed by the people of Kazakhstan during the recent question-and-answer session with the president. Those themes also topped an extended meeting at the Ministry for Culture and Information.

Mukhtar Kul-Mukhammed, Minister for Culture and Information of RK:
- The second phase of the cultural heritage programme is still within the focus of the ministry. Our task is to provide high quality fulfillment of all events in this programme. By this I mean the continuation of the construction of the ethno-cultural centre and the Al-Farabi mausoleum and the restoration of the Sultan Az-Zakhir Beibars mausoleum in Damask and his mosque in Cairo. Before the end of this year, the Issyk state historical and cultural open-air museum is to be finished.

This year, 8 monuments are going to be restored and the ministry is now also working on the restoration of open-air museums located along the Great Silk Way. The Kazakhfilm studio is now working on a series of documentary films called «National heritage». Before the end of this year, 56 books with a circulation of 168 thousand copies are to be published as well. The Kazakhfilm studio is also being modernised and it is planned to carry out work on new digital equipment to convert existing movies into digital format. The theatrical sphere is now renewing its repertoire and working on the new 2020 long-term state programme for language development.
