PROBE ON USAF F-15 EAGLE FIGHTER JET FLYING TOO LOW - MINISTER
KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 19 (Bernama) -- The Defence Ministry and the United States
Air Force (USAF) will probe whether a jet fighter had flown too low as it had
damaged the roof of a house near the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) base in
Butterworth last Wednesday.
Its minister, Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the probe would focus on whether
the incident was due to a technical glitch or human errors.
"It could be due to human errors but we will not rule out a technical
glitch," he told Bernama after attending the signing of a memorandum of
understanding between Lembaga Tabung Angkatan Tentera and Mutiara Rini Sdn Bhd
and Leejin Sdn Bhd on the construction of a housing project in Damansara here.
A USAF F-15 Eagle fighter jet, which took off from the air base for a
training flight, damaged the roof of a house in Kampung Setol, Butterworth at
3pm last Wednesday.
It is believed that the damage could be due to a sonic boom as the house was
located close to the edge of the air base runway.
