National pension fund mulls purchase of Sydney building

SEOUL, Nov. 23 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's national pension fund said Monday it is
reviewing the possible purchase of a premium office building in Sydney but has
not yet made a decision on whether to make the deal.

The National Pension Service (NPS) said it has received a proposal from the U.S.
global private equity group Carlyle, the preferred bidder for the Aurora Place
office tower, that it buy the office.
But it has made no decision on the deal, saying, "It is only one of many
investment opportunities in the world."
The pension fund, which is increasing investments in overseas properties, said
earlier this month it will buy two office buildings in central London.
Also Monday, The Australian daily newspaper reported the NPS will buy the
44-story building from its owner, Colonial First State Asset Management, for 685
million Australian dollars (US$629.5 million).
