DPMMS YOUTH CHAMBER TO SET UP ADVISORY CENTRE IN CHINA

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 23 (Bernama) -- The Youth Chamber of the Selangor Malay
Chamber of Commerce Malaysia (DPMMS) has teamed up with consultancy firm Walter
Rhodes to establish a business advisory centre in China.

The Youth Chamber-Walter Rhodes Business Advisory Centre would be officially
launched on Dec 6 in Suzhou's Xiangcheng district, said DPMMS Youth Chamber
chairman Agil Faisal Ahmad Fadzil Monday.

In conjunction with the centre's launch, five Malaysian companies would be
involved in its pilot project there, he said.

He said the companies -- Funcell Sdn Bhd, Sarang Walet Corp Sdn Bhd, SLG
Oilcorp Sdn Bhd, AFPM Systech Sdn Bhd and Biofuel Sdn Bhd -- had made a
commitment to set up operations in Xiangcheng by next year with a total
investment of about RM5 million (US$1.48 million).

They were expected to generate a total revenue of RM20 million during the
first year of operation, he told reporters after the launch of the Youth
Chamber-Walter Rhodes Business Advisory Centre in Shah Alam near here Monday.

The ceremony was officiated by International Trade and Industry Deputy
Minister Mukhriz Mahathir.

The Youth Chamber-Walter Rhodes Business Advisory Centre in Shah Alam was
set up to assist local entreprenuers seeking to explore business opportunities
overseas, especially in China.

Agil said the Youth Chamber and Walter Rhodes also planned to bring local
entreprenuers to venture other countries like Vietnam, Cambodia and Indonesia in
the near future.

"Our aim is to help those young entreprenuers, especially those involved
in new technologies and high value-added industries such as information and
communication technology (ICT) and biotech to expand their operations in the
international market," he said.

Meanwhile, Mukhriz said the Youth Chamber's move would be of great help to
entrepreneurs seeking to create business network connections in building and
expanding their businesses.

"This is a noble effort in a move to create entrepreneurs that are
characterised by knowledge, working qualities in the areas of biotechnology,
ICT, engineering, medicine and many others," he said.

DPMMS has about 3,000 members and almost 500 of them are entrepreneurs below
the age of 35 years.
