DUBAI METRO BREAKS 3 MLN PASSENGER-BARRIER IN TWO MONTHS
DUBAI, Nov 24 (Bernama) -- The Dubai Metro transported 3.49 million
passengers in the two months since it started its Red Line network on Sept 9.
Dubai Road and Transport Authority official Ramadan Abdullah said the Mall
of the Emirates station led the other nine stations in operation on the Red Line
in terms of passenger numbers. "A total of 607,775 passengers boarded the train
there," he said in a statement here Monday.
He said the metro system had contributed to easing traffic congestion and
lower pollution levels from vehicles and motorbikes, preserving the environment
and creating a fun travel atmosphere.
