BIBIT, CHANDRA ADVISED TO WAIT FOR STOP-INVESTIGATION ORDER

Surabaya, E Java, Indonesia, Nov 26 (ANTARA) - National Legal Commission (KHN) Chairman J.E. Sahetapy has asked suspended anti-graft body deputy chiefs Bibit Samad Riyanto and Chandra M. Hamzah to wait for a warrant for the termination of their investigation (SP3).

"Bibit and Chandra have to wait for the SP3 first," Sahetapy said at the District Court (PN) here Thursday, adding that after the police had issued the SP3, Bibit and Chandra could return to their previous positions in the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

"We hope the police headquarters can soon issue the SP3 after the charges against the two prove not to be supported by sufficient evidence," the former professor at Airlangga University said.

Sahetapy did not touch on the government regulation in lieu of law (Perppu) issued by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono to appoint temporary KPK leaders after Bibit and Chandra were named as suspects by the police.

"The Perppu issued by the president was aimed to avoid a vacancies in the KPK leadership. So it is no longer necessary to discuss it," he added.***
