Seoul shares start lower on Dubai concerns
SEOUL, Nov. 27 (Yonhap) -- South Korean stocks tumbled Friday as debt concerns in
Dubai ripped through financial markets, analysts said.
The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) shed 23.77 points, or
1.49 percent, to 1,575.75 in the first 15 minutes of trading.
The market's decline followed reports that Dubai World, the UAE-owned holding
company, sought debt payments and heightened anxiety worldwide about the
stability of the world economic recovery.
The local currency was trading at 1,162.4 won to the greenback as of 9:15 a.m.,
down 7.1 won from Thursday's close.
