Caspian Oil and Gas exhibit opens in Baku Tuesday.

BAKU, June 3 (Itar-Tass) - An international Caspian Oil and Gas-2008 exhibition opens here on Tuesday. The exhibition, which is held here for the 15th time, will run till June 6.

Exhibition organisers said it had drawn 380 companies from 33countries, including Russia. Besides, as Mehman Ahmedov, Vice-President of Azerbaijan's Chamber of Commerce and Industry, pointed out at a news conference, the national pavilions of Russia, Germany, Britain, and China, whose companies engage in implementing Azerbaijani energy projects, will function at the exhibition.

Azerbaijani President Ilkham Aliyev, as well as the Energy ministers of a number of countries are expected to attend the opening ceremony.

Within the framework of the exhibition, a two-day internationalconference on the theme of "The Role of Caspian Oil and Gas Resources in the Supply of Energy Resources to Europe" is to be held in Baku, with the chiefs of the world's leading companies and experts of international organisations and financial institutions participating.

Those present at the conference are also to touch upon a number of important questions, including those connected with the strategicdevelopment of oil and gas operations on the shelf of the Caspian Sea, on participation in them by the world's leading producers, the manufacture of development equipment, the export and transportation of oil.

Expert are of the opinion that the reserves of oil and gas resources in the Caspian Sea area are estimated at 200,000 million barrels of oil and 640,000,000 million cubic feet of gas, which accounts for 15 percent of the world's hydrocarbon fuel reserves.

Azerbaijan stably delivers oil to world markets and began to export natural gas in 2007.
