ISESCO condemns Israel for preventing Imam of Al-Aqsa Mosque from entering the Mosque

RABAT, December 04, SPA -- The Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural
Organization (ISESCO) has condemned the decision taken by the Israeli occupation
authorities to prevent Sheikh Ikrima Sabri, Imam of Al-Aqsa Mosque, from entering
the mosque and exercising the religious functions that he has been performing since
1973.

In a communiqué issued today, ISESCO said that this decision is null and void and
runs counter to the international laws, in terms of form and content, adding that
it reflects an underlying hostility towards Islamic rituals and against the
feelings of Muslims in Al-Quds, Palestine and the world as a whole.

ISESCO also stated that preventing Sheikh Ikrima Sabri from entering the mosque is
a crime by all legal and ethical standards, universal concepts and international
norms, according to a report of the UAE news agency "WAM".

It called on the international community to counter and denounce this decision in
international forums as it constitutes a blatant violation of the sanctity of
Al-Aqsa Mosque, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights as well as relevant
international declarations, conventions and covenants.
