Moscow hospitals accept 37 people wounded in nightclub fire.



MOSCOW, December 6 (Itar-Tass) - Thirty-seven people wounded at the
Lame Horse nightclub in Perm, the Urals, have been taken to Moscow
hospitals. Three of them are in critical condition. Doctors describe the
condition of the other 34 patients as serious.

"The patients who are in critical condition include a 27-year-old
woman and two young men aged 22 and 31," a source at the Moscow public
health department told Itar-Tass. They have been placed in intensive care
at the city hospital No. 36 where they are being treated for severe burns.
An emergency headquarters have been set up at the Moscow mayor's
office to coordinate the actions of all agencies and services responsible
for rendering assistance in the horrendous fire. According to the latest
reports, 107 people have died and 126 have been hospitalized.
The Moscow authorities have prepared hotel rooms for the relatives of
the wounded. They will start arriving in Moscow on Sunday.

.Second Il-76 plane airlifts 16 nightclub victims to St. Petersburg.

ST.PETERSBURG, December 6 (Itar-Tass) - A second IL-76 plane carrying
16 people wounded in the nightclub fire in Perm landed at the Pulkovo
airport in St. Petersburg at 22:45 Moscow time. Eleven of them are in
critical condition.
The first Russian Emergencies Ministry plane had delivered 15 people
from Perm several hours earlier, at 17:10 Moscow time.
A hotline has been opened in St. Petersburg to provide information
about the patients delivered to hospitals in St. Petersburg.
According to the latest reports, the death toll from the nightclub
fire in Perm is 107 people. Another 126 people are being treated for
wounds and burns in hospitals in Perm, Moscow, St. Petersburg and
Chelyabinsk.

.Evacuation of nightclub fire victims continues in Perm.

PERM, the Urals, December 6 (Itar-Tass) - Ninety people wounded in the
nightclub fire in Perm have been delivered to hospitals in Moscow, St.
Petersburg and Chelyabinsk on Saturday.
"We are dispatching another 15 people by an IL-76 plane of the
Russian Emergencies Ministry. Five of them have artificial lung
ventilation. They will be delivered to the same hospitals, including the
Sklifosovsky scientific research institute, dependent on their condition,"
Tatyana Golikova, the Russian minister of health and social development,
said at the Perm airport.
She personally supervised the loading of fire victims onboard a plane.
She clarified that eight Russian Emergencies Ministry planes had taken
91 people from Perm to Moscow, St. Petersburg and Chelyabinsk.
"About 40 patients remain in hospitals in Perm. Eight of them are to
be evacuated early on Sunday morning," Golikova went on to say. She added
that from seven to ten people were in extremely grave condition and were
not subject to evacuation.
Golikova said that Moscow doctors from the Vishnevsky Institute of
Surgery, the Sklifosovsky first aid research institute and the Federal
Medical and Biological Agency would continue working in Perm hospitals.
The number will be reduced as patients start getting better.

.Patriarch Kirill presents condolences over Perm tragedy.

MOSCOW, December 6 (Itar-Tass) - The Patriarch of Moscow and All
Russia Kirill has sent a telegram of condolences to the leaders and the
head of the eparchy of the Perm territory. He asked them to convey the
words of support and compassion to the families and relatives of those who
died in the Saturday nightclub fire and to all who were hurt or wounded in
that tragedy. At the same time, he urged to ponder over the causes of the
accident.
A deadly fire broke out in the Lame Horse nightclub in Perm, the
|Urals, in the early hours of morning (around 01:15 local time) on
Saturday. It claimed the lives of 109 people, more than 130 are in
hospital.
"The Church is praying and will pray for those who died in the
tragedy, it will ask the Lord to take care of them in their lives which
are to come. We are also praying hard for those who are now between life
and death and about all people who have found themselves in hospital
wards. I honestly hope that the Lord will hear our prayer and will give
His help and consolation to all those whose fate has been affected by this
tragedy," Patriarch Kirill wrote in the telegram that was published by the
Moscow Patriarchate press service on Saturday. The head of the Russian
Orthodox Church stressed the need to think over the causes of the
nightclub tragedy. "Those who have to deal with huge concentrations of
people should feel more responsible for the life and health of
fellow-beings," the patriarch said. He also warned against immoderate
merrymaking that can end with trouble and grief.
"Let the feeling of responsibility make us more attentive and strict
to our actions and help avoiding tragic incidents in future," Patriarch
Kirill emphasized.
