EU SPECIAL REPRESENTATIVE FOR SOUTH CAUCASUS GIVES PRESS CONFERENCE IN BAKU
Baku, 04 June, (AzerTAj)- The European Union`s Special Representative for the South Caucasus Peter Semneby gave a press conference to sum up his visit to Azerbaijan.
Semneby spoke of his meetings with Azerbaijan`s officials, including with President Ilham Aliyev.
He also touched upon forthcoming presidential elections in the country, saying “they are very important for the European union�.
Semneby expressed hope the elections will be democratic and transparent, adding the EU and the Venice commission will give every relevant assistance to Azerbaijan.
On Nagorno-Karabakh conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan, he said he strongly believes the European Union will play positive role in increasing mutual trust between the conflicting sides.
