Anti-corruption forum in Astana
Astana, December 08, 2009, Khabar – The number of public boards on combating corruption in the organizations of Astana has grown from 5 to 12 since the beginning of this year. Citizens became more often to inform about the facts of corruption. It was reported at the capital's anti-corruption forum, organized by the "Nur Otan".
Six teachers bribe-taking teachers were discharged in the Eurasian National University thanks to the work of the council. And members of the youth movement "Karsy" cooperated with law enforcement authorities and seized more than 200 thousand pirated discs.
Oralbai Abdykarimov, chairman of Public Council on Combating Corruption under "Nur Otan" People’s Democratic party:
- The fact that been done in recent years shows this sort of trend in thinking is working. International organization "Transparency International" corruption perception rating of Kazakhstan took up 120 in 2009. And in 2008 there were 145th place. Of course, there is movement, but it is not a cause for joy, as if to curb corruption. We have to work very much.
