Independence Palace is a modern museum complex

Astana, December 10, 2009 (Khabar) - The year of the 10th anniversary of Kazakhstan’s capital city, the city of Astana has coincided with the construction of the Palace of Independence. The unique architectural structure has become the main place for the organization of international forums and large events. The Astana economic and Eurasian energy forums, the international conference on fighting corruption and the General Assembly of the World Tourism Organization are only a few of the events which have taken place in the Palace of Independence during recent months.

Tleugali Kishkashbayev, director general, “Independence Palace”:
- Our auditorium for 3500 people accounts for 5000 square metres and allows us to organize different events. Additionally, we have small conference halls for 286 and for 160 people, a press club, an art gallery and exhibition halls. The construction of this palace and giving it the name of “Independence Palace” was initiated by our president.

The upper floors of the Independence Palace are transformed every month and has the appearance of a museum complex. A model of the city of the future, the city of Astana has a special place in this museum. Especially for Independence Day, it is planned to open another two halls which will contain exhibits of both the ancient and modern history of Kazakhstan.

- We are to open another two halls. The archeological and ethnographic hall, which will comprise exhibits from the history of our nation and the hall of the history of Astana. You can come and get acquainted with these unique exhibits.

In the near future the Palace of Independence will witness several formal events. Next year will also be full of international occasions.
