Senate approves new National Security Committee chairman

Astana, December 10, 2009 (Khabar) - The head of the Presidential Administration Aslan Musin has presented the candidate Adil Shayakhmetov for the post of the National Security Committee’s chairman to the Senate deputies. The Senate deputies voted unanimously for appointing the proposed candidate to this position. Shayakhmetov, who previously held the office of the first deputy head of the National Security Committee, expressed his gratitude to the parliamentarians for their trust and promised to do his best in fulfilling the tasks assigned by the committee.

Adil Shayakhmetov, chairman, National Security Committee of RK:
- Kazakhstan is currently taking up the chairmanship in the OSCE and other organizations. We are being entrusted with a very serious task in this respect. The committee’s efforts and funds will be aimed at promoting the security of our state. Great work has been carried out this year. We are dealing with struggles and counteraction with foreign special intelligence services and we’ll proceed with this work further.

The presidential decree on appointing Adil Shayakhmetov as the chairman of the National Security Committee and the order on relieving him of his other duties as the first deputy chairman of the NSC have been issued after the approval procedure of the applicant for the position of the NSC head.
