LAOS, VIETNAM OPEN NEW LOCAL BORDER CHECKING POINT
Vientiane, June 5 (KPL) - Laos's Bolikhamsay province and Vietnam's Nghe An province opened a local border checking point to promote trade and tourism between two countries, at the end of last month.
The new border checkpoint is located in Viengthong district, opposite to Tan Chuong district in response to the increase transaction of local people.
The inauguration was attended by Deputy Governor of Bolikhamsay province, Mr Thongon Khamphoubanh, and Mr Nguyen Xuan Duong, Deputy Chairman of People's Committee of Gna An province and both sides officials.
This is the second border checkpoint would be implemented under the regulation of two provinces. The first local border checkpoint was opened at the end of 2007.
