EXTERNAL TRADE DECLINED

Ulaanbaatar, /MONTSAME/ As of the first 11 months of 2009, Mongolia traded with 116 countries from all over the world and total external trade turnover reached 3,590.4 mln.US dollars, of which exports made up 1,678.3 mln.US dollars and import 1,912.1 mln.US dollars.
External trade balance in the first 11 months of 2009 showed a deficit of 233.7 mln.US dollars, by 429.7 mln.US dollars or 2.8 times decrease compared with the same period of the previous year.
Compared with the same period of 2008, a total external trade turnover declined by 1,703.9 mln.US dollars, or 32.2 per cent, of which exports by 637.1 mln.US dollars, or 27.5 per cent, imports by 1,066.8 mln.US dollars, or 35.8 per cent,respectively.
Compared with the same period of the previous year, total export fell due to declines of 45.2 per cent in value of copper concentrate; and of 30.8 per cent in value of zinc concentrate; of 36.9 per cent in volume and 34.2 per cent in value of gold, in unwrought or semi-manufactured forms, respectively.
