GOVT REMINDED OF MISSING 1997/1998 ACTIVISTS` CASE
Jakarta, Dec 10 (ANTARA) - The National Human Rights Commission (Komas Ham) has reminded the government that it should not forget the case in which a number of activists disappeared or were abducted in 1997/1998.
"Now is the time for us to ask the government to answer all of the questions posed by family members of the still missing activists," Komnas Ham chairman Ifdhal Kasim said in a function held to observe World Human Rights Day here on Thursday.
Ifdhal said that a total of 13 activists have remained missing since their disappearance in 1997/1998 and for this Komnas Ham would continue to urge President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono to issue a presidential decree on the settlement of the missing persons case.
He said that it was urgent for the government to settle completely the problem of the missing activists and disclose the mastermind behind their abduction.
In observing World Human Rights Day which falls on December 10, Komnas Ham organized an Arts Parade and Free Speeches entitled: "Solve the Cases and Return Them." ***
