FORMER PRESIDENT INAUGURATES RA HABIBIE KIDNEY CLINIC
Batam, Dec 11 (ANTARA) - Former president BJ Habibie inaugurated the RA Habibie Clinic in Batam on Friday.
"I hope this clinic will be useful, particularly for financially weak people," the former president said when inaugurating the clinic which was named after his mother.
Habibie said the kidney clinic was designed for helping people who have to undergo heamodialysis but could not afford to pay.
He said the kidney clinic was initiated by RA Tuti Harini Habibie who was concerned about the people's health condition, particularly of the poor.
"Now, this initiative is being followed up by my younger sister Sri Sudarsono," Habibie said.
At the same time, chairwomen of the Batam Special Kidney Clinic Sri Sudarsono said the Batam clinic was the second biggest in Indonesia after one in Bandung.
The special kidney clinic in Bandung was also established by Tuti Marini Habibie. "This is actually a branch of the Bandung kidney clinic," she said.
