POLICEMEN'S EDUCATION PERIOD TO BE EXTENDED
Sukabumi, Dec 11 (ANTARA) - National police chief General Bambang Hendarso Danuri voiced the need for reform in police education here on Friday to improve their performance.
"Later in 2010 the period of police education will be increased. It will apply for petty to ranking officers," he said to reporters after inaugurating graduates of the Police Officer Training School (Secapa).
He said the period of training at the Secapa would be increased from four to seven months.
"Four months is considered too short and therefore it needs to be extended to improve the quality of police service to the public," he said.
He said in 2010 later the national police would start conducting a change focussing on internal culture particularly ethics.
"The police will also respect human rights. All officers from low-ranking to higher-ranking officers must pay attention to human rights cases," he said.
