GUNSAN, South Korea, Dec. 12 (Yonhap) -- Rescuers were searching for three
missing crew members of a fishing boat after it collided with a ship carrying
sand in waters off southwestern South Korea, maritime authorities said Saturday.
Four crew members were on board the 7.6-ton Mingyeong when it collided with the
2,339-ton Shinchang No. 5 around 8:10 a.m., about 24 kilometers southwest of
Gunsan. One person was rescued, but is in critical condition, the Coast Guard
said.
The exact cause of the collision is under investigation, but Coast Guard
officials believe thick fog and high waves may caused the collision.
Gunsan is a port city located about 274km southwest of Seoul.
