GUNSAN, South Korea, Dec. 12 (Yonhap) -- One crew member was dead and two others
were missing after their fishing boat sank after colliding with a ship carrying
sand in waters off southwestern South Korea, maritime authorities said Saturday.

Four crew members were on board the 7.6-ton Mingyeong when it capsized after it
its net was hit by the 2,339-ton Shinchang No. 5 around 8:10 a.m. in waters about
31 kilometers southwest of Gunsan, according to Coast Guard officials. The fourth
crew member was rescued.
Rescuers found the body of the victim, whose identity was not yet confirmed,
inside the sunken boat at around 11:40 a.m.
The Coast Guard was searching for the missing crew members.
The rescued crew member, only identified as 44-year-old Chung, told Coast Guard
officials, "As the big ship carrying sand passed above a net linked to the
Mingyeong, it (the fishing boat) capsized."
Gunsan is a port city located about 274km southwest of Seoul.
