320 BILLION KIP INJECTED IN NEW ROAD

Vientiane, June 6 (KPL) - Vientiane Capital has kicked off constructing new road linking Dongdok T-junction in Saythany and Dongphosy in Hardsaifong with an investment of over 320 billion kip (US$37 million.

"This six-lane road will be paved with asphalt in a length of 20.3 km. At the first stage of construction it will be constructed as a four-lane road, and expanded to have six lanes at a later time," said this week Project Manager of Dongdok T-junction-Dongphosy Road Construction, Mr. Vongphachanh Boulaphanh.

Mr. Vongphachanh said that land clearance for the new road has been being underway since May along with other groundwork.

It is expected that the construction will be over in 2010. The new road runs through three villages in Saythany district, ten villages in Saysettha district and two villages in Hardsaifong district.

Vientiane Vice-Mayor, Mr. Bounchanh Sinlavong, and relevant officials on Wednesday visited and talked to people, who are affected from the road development to make them realize the benefit they will get from the development, which is according to the guideline and policy of the Party and the Government, as well as the socio-economic development plan of Vientiane.
