MARZUKI: BAMBANG`S STATEMENT ABOUT FINANCE MINISTER PERSONAL

Bogor, Indonesia, Dec 12 (ANTARA) - House of Representatives (DPR) Speaker Marzuki Alie said the statement of Bambang Soesatyo about Finance Minister Sri Mulyani was a personal one outside the agenda of the House Inquiry Committee on the Century Bank case.

"As it is personal, there is no need to comment on it," he said after opening a press gathering in Bogor, West Java, Saturday afternoon, replying a newsman's question on the statement of one of the committee members that openly discredited the finance minister.

Marzuki said what Bambang Soesatyo, a committee member from Golkar Party, had said was not an issue to be discussed by the committee.

"The committee will only hold a plenary meeting to determine its agenda on Monday," he said.

At the meeting the committee would determine what it would do and who it would summon for questioning, he said.

He said it was the agenda that the committee would agree on that would be carried out, not a personal statement.

Marzuki called on all committee members to focus on the agenda and not to talk about other things.

He said, until now, a lot of personal statements had been issued in the name of the committee.

"If committee members speak too much about things that are out of context, they will lose focus and the end result will not be what they had expected," he said.

Sri Mulyani said recently in a Singaporean daily that Aburizal Bakrie, the chairman of the Golkar Party, was not happy with her and she was not expecting Golkar leaders to be kind to her.

In response to it, Bambang Soesatyo said Sri Mulyani's statement was groundless.

Bambang claimed he had a recording of a conversation between Sri Mulyani and the commissioner of Bank Century, Robert Tantular, regarding a bailout for the bank. Sri Mulyani , however, had denied she had ever talked with Tantular. ***
