FORTY POOR FISHERMEN TO GET HOUSE
Polewali Mandar, W Sulawesi, Indonesia, Dec 13 (ANTARA) - Forty poor fishermen in Tonyaman village, Binuang sub-district, Polewali Mandar (Polman) district, West Sulawesi province, will receive a house from the government, an official said.
Secretary of the local marine and fisheries affairs office Natsir Adam said here on Sunday that initially as many as 200 poor fishermen were to receive a house.
However, the Directorate General of Coastal and Small Islands only agreed to provide a home for only 40 people, and the rest will get a home in the 2010 fiscal year, Adam said.
"The construction budget of the 40 houses reaches Rp1.5 billion, with each home worth Rp39 million," he explained.
Adam said further that the fishermen will get type-27 houses on stilts.
The building of the houses was scheduled for completion by the end of this year, and if the building contractors failed to build the houses as scheduled in the contract, they will be fined.***
