LION AIR PLANE RESUMES FLIGHT AFTER ACCIDENT

Pekanbaru, Dec 13 (ANTARA) - The Lion Air Boeing 737-400 has resumed its flight with its passengers to Jakarta after undergoing an accident at Sultan Syarif Kasim II international airport in Pekanbaru.

"The plane which had an accident this afternoon is already back in the air," head of the airport's service and operations division Joko Sudarmanto said here Sunday night.

Earlier in the day, after the Boeing 737-400 plane had an accident, Syarif Kasim II airport was closed to all flights.
The plane with 160 passengers when flying from Hang Nadim international airport in Batam had trouble with its landing gears, and stopped at the end of the runway.

But the airport said that all the passengers and crew were unhurt, and evacuated to the airport's domestic arrivals terminal.

The National Transportation Safety Commission or the Air Worthiness Certification Directorate of the Air Transport Directorate General at the Ministry of Transportation said after the necessary repairs had been completed, the plane was allowed to resume its flight.

He also said that the runway as well as the plane did not suffer any meaningful damage, but captain pilot Muhammad Nauval had been replaced.
