S Korea to send medicines worth USD 15 mln to DPRK
SEOUL, December 15 (Itar-Tass) -- The government of South Korea has
decided to send a batch of medicines to North Korea this week, the South
Korean Unification Ministry reported on Tuesday.
The medicines worth 15 million dollars are intended for helping the
Pyongyang authorities cope with an outbreak of A/H1N1 flu. Recently,
pupils at the age of 11 to 14 fell ill there. Now they are recovering.
When Seoul offered to render humanitarian aid to Pyongyang, the DPRK
authorities agreed to get this aid since an outbreak of this disease was
registered on its territory. Medicines will be delivered there by
trucks-refrigerators through the western sector of the land border in the
area of the North Korean city of Keson where the inter-Korean industrial
complex is operating on Friday.
The cargo will be accompanied by South Korean doctors to explain the
correct application of these medicines.
