Presentation of National Action Plan for Human Rights in London

London, December 19, 2009 (Khabar) - London has witnessed the official presentation of the Kazakhstan’s National Action Plan for Human Rights. The discussion of the plan involved the participation of representatives of state, public and expert organizations of the UK. The elaborators say this document is concrete and seizes many issues. Experience of dozens of European and Asian states was taken into account during its elaboration.
Tastemir Abishev, secretary, Human rights Commission under President of Kazakhstan:
- The adoption of the National Action Plan of Human Rights is one of the important measures, which Kazakhstan is going to undertake before chairing the OSCE. The document was developed on the direct task of the head of state and the development involved both state and nongovernmental organizations.
The separate point of the document is devoted to education of the population in the area of rights and freedoms. It was decided to create an electronic library, which will contain all necessary information, including answers to questions how to retain a lawyer, draw a pension or receive social benefits.
Alex Nice, The expert of Royal Institute for International Relations:
- The adopted plan will receive positive assessment of the Western world, since it guarantees Kazakhstan’s residents basic civil rights, correspondent to international standards.
Siddharth Saxena, chairperson of the Cambridge Central Asia Forum:
- It is a good example of the ability of the country to develop itself. From the country with the Soviet past, it turned into the state, which plays a significant role in Western countries.
The concrete executors and terms of holding of campaigns are already defined. Twice a year the commission on human rights will report to the government and President about realization of decisions. But it is said the main is activity of people themselves.
