Book “Liberators” was presented in Almaty
Almaty, December 20, 2009, Khabar - It is dedicated to the 65th anniversary of driving away of German-fascist invaders from Belarus. Specifically shot documentary film “Belarusian frontier and photo album were shown in honor of this memorable date. Before the beginning of the evening veterans who participated in the liberation of Belarus, were handed medals, which were specially made by the government of Belarus for the 65th anniversary of Victory. The representatives of the Belarusian cultural center also thanked Kazakhstani soldiers who fought for the liberation of Minsk and other cities. More than half million Kazakhstani soldiers went to the front during World War II. 70 among 500 soldiers received the title of Hero of the Soviet Union for the liberation of Belarus, and 14 000 died on the Belarusian land. 8th infantry division of 15th infantry corps of 13th army of central front was among the first unions that liberated Belarus. 47 soldiers and commanders of this infantry division got “Golden Star” of the Hero of Soviet Union. Heroes of the Soviet Union Abdulla Zhanzakov, Kazbek Nurzhanov, Idris Urgenshibayev, Vasily Chebotarev, Fyodor Ozmitel, Sundutkali Iskaliyev were buried in Belarus among thousands of ordinary soldiers.
Lidiya Bakiyeva, a veteran of WWII, a participant of the liberation of Belarus:
- Many Kazakhstanis participated in all the battles, in the liberation of all our republics, beginning from the White and Black Seas, including Belarus. The difficulty was in swamps, marshes, impassable places in Belarus that could not always be easy to pass in order to face in battle and push the Nazis. But our soldiers do everything and Belarus was liberated.
Lyubov Shashkova, author of book “Liberators”:
- Certainly, the Brest page is a unique page, which can decorate any story, if it can be said “decorate” when talking about war, if war could be decorated with something. But the deeds and greatness of the human spirit displayed by the defenders of Brest Fortress are simply unique. This book includes pages of simple human memories, how people survived, but at the same time the strength of human spirit.
