MUNARMAN SURRENDERS TO JAKARTA POLICE

Jakarta, Jun 10 (ANTARA) - Munarman, the commander of the Islam Defenders' Front (FPI)'s Islamic Legion, surrendered to the Jakarta police on Monday after being on the run since the recent Monas Square incident, a police spokesperson said. "He came (to the Jakarta police headquarters) but there is no report about the exact time he arrived," Senior Commissioner Ketut Untung Yoga, the Jakarta Police Headquarters' chief public relations officer, said here Monday evening. Munarman's case was currently being processed, Yoga said. Earlier, National Police chief Sutanto had repeatedly called on Munarman to surrender to the authorities. The police chief pledged a fair, legal process for Munarman, who is one of the suspects in the National Monument (Monas) incident of last June 1. Sutanto hoped that Munarman would give himself up soon. "We guarantee that the legal process will be conducted fairly. He does not need to worry."The police were searching for Munarman as he was wanted as a suspect and would be arrested, the police chief added.
