Nursultan Nazarbayev visited the New Year party
Astana, December 27, 2009, Khabar – President congratulated Kazakhstan’s citizens on upcoming holiday and summarized the main results of the year. New Year ball in Astana is one of the main fashionable celebrations in honor of the coming holiday. Politicians, businessmen, journalists, people of culture and art gathered here. The central hall of the Palace of Independence turned into a fairytale winter forest for one night. Traditionally celebration began with a speech by the head of state.
Nursultan Nazarbayev, President of Kazakhstan:
- Last year at this time Kazakhstan was predicted to face with the default like in Iceland. One year passed and in fact, our people did not feel this crisis and everything because we undertook certain measures.
The President noted that although the country faced with difficulties, for Kazakhstan the year 2009 was successful. They were able to reach stable growth of the economy and construct 170 new enterprises. This year the country saw reconstruction of thousands kilometres of roads, hundreds of schools, hospitals and other social units. All these assisted in creation of 400.000 new jobs and taking into account the difficult situation in many countries, it is significant achievement for Kazakhstan.

- This year was anti-crisis year, Kazakhstan experiencing such a crisis the second time already. And we withstand all tests of time for the second time. This suggests that people accustomed to the market economy, and learned. I think the coming year will be a new stage of our new path.

- The most important victory of this year is that we were able to maintain our unity this year. The unity of our people, because this is our great fortune, which we should cherish.

- I think this year was successful for the culture, because there were a lot of demonstrations of our cultural achievements in various countries. Our framework is expanded and there are so many opportunities to create new jobs for talented young people.
Nursultan Nazarbayev expressed hope that 2010 will be more successful for Kazakhstan, since it will chair the OSCE, enter the customs union and implement new development strategy, as well as dozens projects, which will help in the modernization of the local economy and creation of thousands new jobs.
