Hanoi readies for AutoExpo

Hanoi (VNA) - The International Automobile and Supporting Industries Exhibition and Conference (Vietnam AutoExpo 2008) opened here on June 11.

Vietnam AutoExpo 2008, which will run until June 14, has attracted both national and international car manufacturers, including FAW, Mercedes-Benz,
Nissan and Volvo. Vietnam AutoExpo 2008 is being organised by CIS Vietnam
Advertising and Exhibition Fair Ltd, the Institute of Industry Policy
and Strategy (IPSI) and the Vietnam Society of Automotive Engineers (VSAE).

The show will feature vehicles for all kinds of car-lovers, from small cars
to luxury rides, buses, trucks and special-purpose vehicles, in addition to
motorbikes, bicycles and electric bikes.

Rail, water and air transport will also be showcased alongside supporting
industries equipment including auto parts for production and assembly, and
machinery and equipment at over 200 kiosks.

Also on display will be garage, research and insurance services.

In 2007 over 130 exhibitors from Russia , Japan , the Republic of Korea
, Germany , France , Iran , Taiwan , Malaysia , Singapore and
Thailand participated in the 10,000 sq.m show. Nearly 45,000 people
visited the show.

More than 80,000 automobile units were sold in Vietnam last year,
marking an astounding year-on-year growth rate of 97 percent.

Cars and commercial vehicles recorded the biggest growth rates at 128 and
129 percent respectively.-Enditem
