Iranian MPs visit Fordo nuclear facility

TEHRAN, Jan. 11 (MNA) -- MP Mahdi Sanaii has said that members of the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee have visited the Fordo nuclear facility.

The visit was arranged to familiarize the MPs with the nation’s nuclear advances, he told the Mehr News Agency here on Monday.


He added that the Fordo facility has been constructed by Iranian experts and has enhanced the security of Iran’s nuclear facilities in the face of external threats.


Sanaii stated that Iranian scientists have acquired great expertise and emphasized that the nation is determined to develop civilian nuclear technology.


The Fordo facility tells the world that Iran is not going to back down in its efforts to acquire nuclear technology meant for peaceful purposes, he noted.


Majlis backs SNSC’s nuclear policy


MP Kazem Jalali says that the Majlis supports the Supreme National Security Council’s nuclear policy.


“The Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee completely supports the decision adopted by the Supreme National Security Council for safeguarding the nation’s nuclear achievements,” he told MNA on Monday.


Commenting on the MPs’ visit to the Fordo facility, Jalali said that they were very impressed by the advancements made by Iranian scientists and the extent of their expertise.


He stated that Iranian nuclear facilities are facing various threats, but the system has taken such threats into consideration in the construction of the Fordo facility.


He also expressed hope that the Fordo facility would come on stream in the near future.
