Two Korean pop groups to showcase talent in French music fair

SEOUL, Jan. 12 (Yonhap) -- Two rising South Korean pop groups -- Epik High and
f(x) -- will be a part of the Korean booth at an upcoming international music
fair in France, a government run promotion agency said Tuesday.

The Korea Creative Content Agency, a state-run promoter of culture and arts, said
the indie hip hop group Epik High and the all-female group f(x) will be featured
in the Korean booth at the four-day MIDEM fair that opens on Jan. 24 in Cannes.
MIDEM, taken from the French name of the show, which translates to "International
Record Music Publishing and Video Music Market," is a venue for music industry
professionals to meet, share trends and build networks.
"Our focus has so far leaned towards Southeast Asia, Japan and China, where the
Korean Wave is high. With our support of the showcase, we are taking a step
forward to Europe where we have been little involved," said Kim Eugene, an
organizer with the content agency.
Korean booths have been set up every year at the annual MIDEM fair since 2005,
except in 2008. This year marks the first time that the content agency will
provide comprehensive support showcasing local musicians and boosting their
publicity efforts and business networking, Kim added.
"It may not be a solo concert, but with our hit songs like 'Wannabe' and 'Fan,'
we hope this will be a chance to showcase K-pop to many different countries,"
Epik High member Tablo was quoted as saying in a press release by the agency.
