Laos-Vietnam co-operation committees hold 32nd meeting

(KPL) The Laos-Vietnam Co-operation Committees held their 32nd meeting in Luang Prabang province from 9-12 January. The meeting was co-chaired by Mr. Somsavat Lengsavad, Standing Deputy Prime Minister and President of the Laos-Vietnam Co-operation Committee and his Vietnamese counterpart Nguyen Sinh Hung.
At the meeting, the two sides expressed satisfactions over the implementation of the four-year co-operation agreement on economy, culture, science and technologies (2006-2009), which the line ministries and sectors concerned of the two sides have implemented with a high sense of responsibility and good yield.
The most outstanding results of the co-operation was the co-operation on human resource development and trade, in which the investment project of Vietnam in Laos see a continuous growth and is ranked the highest among foreign investors in Laos. The grant aid projects from Vietnam to Laos were also effectively implemented.
In order to complete the 2006-2010 co-operation agreement, both sides have signed a further co-operation agreement for 2010 which cover a number of ongoing co-operation projects, especially in the field of human resource. The sides will try to implement the co-operation agreement on trade development signed for 2008-2015. They will further encourage their investors to invest in the other country.
In addition, they also agreed to further their co-operation at central and local levels in order to exchange lessons and provide normal assistance to each other in all fields in an effective manner.
The results of this meeting would contribute to further strengthening the special friendly relations and all-round co-operation between Laos and Vietnam. After the meeting, the Vietnamese delegation also visited the northern provinces of Luang Namtha and Oudomsay.
