MALAYSIAN PM TO STRENGTHEN COOPERATION WITH INDIA VISIT
KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 13 (Bernama) -- Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak will make an official visit to India from Jan 19 to 23 to broaden and deepen the existing bilateral cooperation, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement Tuesday.
It said the visit, at the invitation of Indian Prime Minister Dr Manmohan
Singh, would also provide an excellent opportunity for both the leaders to
exchange views and achieve closer understanding on issues of mutual interest.
Najib will be accompanied by his wife, Rosmah Mansor, and a
delegation of 200 officials comprising several ministers, deputy ministers,
menteris besar, chief ministers, members of parliament and senior officials as
well as representatives of the business sector and the media, it said.
"The official programme will take place on Jan 20 in New Delhi where Najib
will have a meeting with his counterpart, Dr Manmohan Singh, to discuss and
exchange views on bilateral, regional and international issues of common
interest to both countries," the statement said.
Najib is also scheduled to call on the President of India, Pratibha
Devisingh Patil, and Vice President Hamid Ansari as well as witness the signing
of several agreements and memorandums of understanding between the two
countries.
He will also visit Chennai to attend and deliver a keynote address at the
16th CII Global Partnership Summit 2010 entitled "Global Partnership: Meeting
Challenges".
He will also attend a round table meeting with selected Indian
industrialists and launch a Malaysian property exhibition.
The prime minister will also meet the Malaysian community in Chennai,
including businessmen and Malaysian students.
