Two new electric rail lines construction contracts signed
BANGKOK, June 17 -- BTS Group Holdings Public Co, Ltd has signed two electric rail line contracts which will enable people living in Bangkok’s neighbouring provinces of Nonthaburi and Samut Prakan to travel to the capital conveniently upon completion in 2020.
The contracts were signed with the state-run Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA) and BSR Joint Venture which is 75% held by the BTS Group Holding.
Kheeree Kanchanapas, chairman of BTS Group Holdings Pcl, said investment on the two electric rail lines totals 100 billion baht.
The Pink Line project will run from Kae rai to Min Buri district with the total distance of 36 kilometres and will have 30 stations. It will be monorail system linking between Nonthaburi and Bangkok.
The Yellow Line project will have 30.4 kilometres and 23 stations. It will be also a monorail system.
The station ends at Samrong in Samut Prakan province. It will connect with the existing Blue Line project at Ratchadapisek and Lat Phrao stations.
Mr Kheeree said he also proposed to the government to construct new extended routes from the Pink Line’s Sri Rut station to Muang Thong Thani complex and an extended route linking with the Green Line rail route near Bangkok’s Ratchayothin intersection.
He said he hoped both the MRTA and the government would give the green light to his proposal. (TNA)
