Earthquake strikes northeast Iran, 100 injured

TEHRAN, Jan. 21 (MNA) – A strong earthquake measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale hit northeastern Iran on Thursday, injuring at least 100 people. The epicenter of the quake, which struck at 16:05 local time, was 10 kilometers outside the city of Neishabour, some 70 kilometers from the holy city of Mashhad. Some buildings were damaged and windows shattered in nearby villages.
