Anniversary of Akai Nusipbekov

Almaty, December 19, 2009 (Khabar) - 100 years turned since the birth of the famous historian, academician and public figure Akai Nusipbekov. His disciples, friends and former colleagues spoke about his work and contribution to the development of historical science in Kazakhstan. Researches of Akai Nusipbekov were devoted to the history of national liberation movements in Kazakhstan in the 18 and 19th centuries, the development of the working class in the country, participation of Kazakhstan in the Great Patriotic War. He is the author of more than 100 scientific papers and monographs. He is also a co-author of a two-volume history of Kazakhstan. Colleagues and disciples remember him as quiet and yet fearless man. In Soviet period he did not hesitate to revise the old views on participation of Kazakhs in the peasant war led by Pugachev, rebellion by Syrym Datov and movement of Kenesary Kasymov, and give them a new assessment. Akai Nusipbekov headed the Shokan Valikhanov Institute of History, Archeology and Ethnographa for 26 years. He trained several generations of scientists who recollect their teacher with respect and warmth.

- Akai Nusipbekovich has many books on many issues of history of Kazakhstan, national history. He wrote and he put forward new ideas and revised old estimates.
