Arab League endorses Syria sanctions

Arab League foreign ministers endorsed Sunday a package of economic sanctions on the Syrian government after it ignored their plan to allow monitors into the country to protect civilians, DPA reported. Qatar Prime Minister Hamad bin Jassim, who heads the organization's committee on Syria, said the sanctions were approved by 19 members. Lebanon was among the two Arab League countries that did not vote in favour of sanctions.
