Bahrain Scientific Complex in Somalia inaugurated

Manama, Nov. 6 (BNA)-- In line with the royal directives to extend a lifeline to drought-hit Somalia, Royal Charity Organisation (RCO) Secretary General Dr. Mustafa Al Sayed inaugurated Bahrain Scientific Complex-Mogadishu National University. The inauguration, held under the auspices of RCO Board of Trustees Chairman Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, was attended by Advisor to Somali President Dr. Taher Ghili and Mogadishu Deputy Mayor Ismail Moalim Abdi Gure. Shaikh Nasser extended heartfelt thanks and gratitude to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the RCO Honorary President, for his humanitarian gesture in ordering the construction of the pioneering educational edifice in Somalia and providing relief aid for the Somali people. He lauded the tremendous support accorded to RCO by His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier. Shaikh Nasser pointed out the role of Bahrain's aid projects in benefiting the Somali people, stressing that construction of disaster-hit countries and grooming individuals is the core of RCO's humanitarian and relief strategy in brotherly and friendly countries. On his part, the RCO Secretary General said Bahrain Scientific Complex, which includes Somalia National University, comprises different colleges teaching various disciplines like human and veterinary medicine, law, Sharia, political sciences, agriculture and financial and administrative sciences. He added that the landmark educational establishment has 17 classes, 400 students (30% female), 22 administrative employees, 80 PhD holders making up the training team and 90 employees from various ministries and government institutions being trained in financial sciences. It worthy to note that Somalia National University was established in 1950 and has 7 branches across Somalia which were all destroyed during the civil war.
