Fajr International Festival of Visual Arts kicks off

TEHRAN,Jan.31(MNA) -- Iranian artists inaugurated the 4th edition of the Fajr International Festival of Visual Arts during a ceremony held at the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art (TMCA) on Monday. Works by veterans and masters of art, as one of the sections of the festival, are put on display at TMCA, while the competitive section of photography and earthenware will open at Niavaran Cultural Center on Wednesday. Participants are competing in different categories including painting, sculpture, pottery and earthenware, miniature, calligraphy, and graphic designs, while the three sections of photography, poster and cartoon is being held internationally. Saba Art and Cultural Institute will be displaying works from the competitive section of painting, calligraphy, miniature and poster in the exhibition opening on Saturday. Illustration, cartoon, and sculpture sections will open in Tehran’s Imam Ali (AS) Religious Arts Museum on Sunday. A new special section of the festival featuring top artworks with the central theme of Islamic Awakening will open at the Palestine Museum of Contemporary Art on February 14. All provincial capitals across Iran are hosting the festival running from January 30 to March 4. International seminars, visual arts market, and honoring veterans with lifetime achievement awards are also arranged on the side section.
