Independence Day is celebrated in Almaty city

Almaty, December 17, 2009 (Khabar) - Ceremony of flowers laying to the Independence Monument has taken place in Almaty. Festivities and mass outings are held in all the regions of Kazakhstan. In Almaty, the holiday was begun with laying of flowers to the Independence Monument, one of the symbols of independence on the Republic Square. Hundreds of people: veterans, participants of December events, youth and representatives of city authorities revered with a silence minute memory of those who fought for Kazakhstan’s freedom. The Almaty residents say at such moment every second is reverberated in heart with feeling of patriotism and pride for the country. Independence for every citizen is first of all freedom, perspectives for development of state and confidence in future.

Serik Seidumanov, deputy mayor of Almaty:
- People’s mood is bright and I want they always have such a mood. Because this year is coming to and end with success due to the actions of the government and instructions of head of the state. Almaty also ends the year with great successes, especially in social and economic development. We built 7 nursery schools, 5 schools and 2 polyclinics, such events didn’t happen in our city for 25-30 years.

Balgabai Musaipov, labour veteran:
- Our power is in friendship and unity. The President always speaks about this and he strives for this, strengthens and takes care of this. This main force allowed us to achieve such results and position. And I think our future will be more wonderful.

Almasbek Nugmanov:
- This is given to us due to great labour of our ancestors, our brothers and grandfathers. We congratulate all the Kazakhstanis, we wish development to our Kazakhstan and we are proud of it.
