Iranian artist displaying cold-glazed earthenware
TEHRAN,March 12(MNA) -- Iranian artist Ahmad Jafari is displaying a series of his earthenware coated with cold glaze in an exhibition underway in the Shokuh Gallery.
Over thirty frames in different sizes and themes have been put on the show, offering a variety of colors and designs, Jafari said in a press release published on Sunday.
“For eight years now, I have been gaining experience making pottery using the technique of cold glaze. The main point in this technique is that it does not have the hardship and the restrictions we encounter in baking clays,” he said.
He added, “Baking causes some restrictions leading to reduced innovation. But these tableaus enjoy a variety of colors and shapes. These works also aim to show that the art of pottery and coating is not just used in architecture but can find its way into homes.”
The bright and energetic colors like yellow, orange or green make the artworks significant compared to some other earthenware, the report added.
As curator Mehrshid Mozaffarian says, the exhibit centers on elements related to Noruz and spring. While most of the works have been made in smaller sizes, ceramic plates can also be seen in the show.
The show will be running until March 14 at the gallery located at 19 Amir Nuri Alley, North Salimi St., Andarzgu Blvd.
