Iranian children’s literature expert Turan Mirhadi honored

TEHRAN,March 4(MNA) -- Turan Mirhadi, veteran researcher and co-founder of the Children’s Book Council, was honored during a ceremony held at the Center for the Great Islamic Encyclopedia last week.
Organized by the Women’s Association of History Researchers, a group of literati including the Iranian Children’s Book Council director Nushafarin Ansari, library science expert Zohreh Qaini and professor at the University of Tehran Abbas Horri attended the ceremony held on Wednesday.
Mirhadi was the first speaker and, expressing her thanks to the organizers of the event, she said that compiling the Iranian Encyclopedia for Young People was a great job and was also educational for every one of us.
Serving as the Secretary of the Executive Council of the encyclopedia, Mirhadi said that children also play significant role in compiling the book.
“Although a group of experts are collaborating in the project, our readers are children and their participation is of major importance,” she said.
“I believe any persistent effort will lead to good results. We are trying to transfer our experiences to our colleagues and have been able to complete and publish one volume every year,” she added.
Ansari continued with a recitation of excerpts from the books written by Mirhadi for the audience.
“The first volume of the encyclopedia was published in 1992 by a team of about 100 experts guided by the chief editor Mirhadi,” Ansari said.
Qaini next explained some of the activities carried out by Mirhadi and said that Mirhadi was well aware that the issue of education is a delicate but persistent task.
“Mirhadi is actually being honored for all the values she has tried to strengthen over the years; peace, friendship, love, respect, happiness, as well as simplicity and unity in the society,” she added.
Horri also praised the encyclopedia and said that most of the articles in the book are analyses which are of high value and that they reflect the Mirhadi’s views.
